🎭 Director’s Note – “Dirty Dusting” By Simon Grant

Taking on the role of director for the first time is both exhilarating and terrifying. There’s a deep responsibility in bringing a story to life—not just in making sure lines are learned and cues are hit, but in shaping the emotional heartbeat of the production. When I was offered the opportunity to direct, I knew immediately that I wanted my first experience to be something bold, funny, and full of heart. That’s why I chose Dirty Dusting.

This play had me hooked from the start. It’s cheeky, outrageous, and unashamedly funny—but beneath the surface, it’s also a story about friendship, resilience, and the power of reinvention. It reminds us that it’s never too late to take charge of your life, have a little fun, and defy expectations—no matter what age you are. That message really resonated with me.

I’ve been on and off the stage at the Concordia Theatre for the best part of 20 years or more, and this theatre has always felt like a second home. It’s where I’ve grown as a performer, built lasting friendships, and fallen in love with the magic of storytelling. Now, stepping into the director’s chair for the first time here feels like a full-circle moment.

Directing Dirty Dusting has been a whirlwind of learning, laughter, and discovery. I’ve had the privilege of working with an incredibly talented and fearless cast and creative team, and their energy, dedication, and sheer joy have made this process truly unforgettable.
